Windows 7 Backup Empty "Data Files" node
Hello Everyone, I have a customer whose backup began to fail recently. The error message is "The system cannot find the path specified." (0x80070003). I thought this would be as simple as unselecting a path from the backup. I went to 'Change Settings' and got to the "What do you want to back up?" page I get a message with that same error (cannot find the path specified) and after clicking 'OK' I see that the "Data Files" node is the only thing that appears and it has no child nodes. If I click 'Next' I get "The paramater is incorrect. (0x80070057)" twice, which I assume is because no backup selections have been made. I have already run chkdsk and deleted the backup registry keys in an attempt to get this to reset itself but no matter what I try the same thing happens. I also tried to look at the backup log but it is empty and there are no events in Event Viewer other than backup started and backup stopped. I have never gotten a message telling me what specific path could not be found. How can I resolve this or reset the backup locations (or cause Windows to rebuild whatever it uses to come up with them?)
